Moses saw many great miracles during his life. He did such great work by following the Lord. One miracle that I find amazing happened at a time when he was unaware. He was a young baby, and a King has risen to be the ruler of Egypt. He inflicted hard labor on the Israelites and was afraid of them because they had grown in number.
The Pharaoh called for the death of the Israelites new born sons. Moses’ Mother gives birth to him and hides him for three months. It is getting difficult because she knows what the Egyptians will do if they find him. The Lord begins to work a miracle. She takes a wicker backet, covers it, and sends the backet down the river. Here she watches her precious baby go along the water alone. An interesting thing happens the royal family sees the basket with the baby and decides to adopt him. Later they got Moses’ actual mother to nurse and take care of the baby. They even gave her wages for her work. What a story!
When the baby was in the basket, Moses’ sister, “stood at a distance to find out what would happen to him.” (Exodus 2:4). Isn’t this like many of us. We go through difficulties in life and think, “What can I do to change this?” Sometimes we may feel like Moses’ older sister who just waits and watches to see what would happen.
I want that attitude. I want to say, “Lord I am just standing with eagerness to see what is going to take place. I know you’ve got something in store for this day.” Just be eager to be used by the Holy Spirit. In the same way Moses’ sister was looking to see what would happen, we are to be anticipating the work of the Lord in our life. This is an example of what a God ordained plan is. Can you imagine, going up to Moses’ Mom and saying, “Hey let’s put your baby in a basket and sail him down the river.” Babies are dying here and there. Yet this woman accomplished what the Lord wanted. The movie the Prince of Egypt delivers this scene well. The song plays as the mother sings, “Deliver us oh deliver us. Hear our prayer, deliver us. From despair, These years of slavery grow too cruel to stand. Deliver us, there’s a land you promised us. Deliver us out of bondage and deliver us to the promised land. “
Psalm 77:14 reads, “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.” (NIV). God did miracles through Moses, He did miracles through, Paul, and He can do miracles through you. We must be open to the work of the Lord. Now we could have the attitude, “Well whatever happens with happens” or we can have the attitude, “Lord we ask you for a miracle.”
Perhaps you’re living paycheck to paycheck, begin to ask the Lord to provide your needs. Maybe the Doctor have given you a report that you will need surgery or have a medical condition that needs attention. Take time to seek the Lord and resist the enemies plans for harm. Remember that the, “the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you” (Romans 8:11). What an amazing thought. The miracle worker is with us. May we continue to ask the Lord for guidance as we live this life.
My call to you is this, seek the Lord. The same Spirit that did the greatest miracle of raising Jesus from the dead is inside of you. He did Miracles before, He will do miracles again when we Jesus comes back, and He is still doing miracles today. Take a movement to put your hand on your heart and ask the Lord, “Work through me today.”
