Holy Spirit

Don’t be Afraid of the Holy Spirit

Some believe that if they follow the Holy Spirit they will start acting funny, loose control, fall down on the ground, or start speaking in tongues. We must remember that when we are led by the spirit we are asking the Holy Spirit to control us.

One time my cousin Austin and my family went to a Charismatic revival that was going on over by my grandparents house. They were called the Happy Hunter Ministries, and they called some people to the front for who are having trouble sleeping at night. Austin was about eight at the time and he went because he was having nightmares. He went forward they prayed over him, no one pushed him but he fell on the ground. They covered him with a blanket and he was down there for a long time( seemed like a good two hours). Every so often Austin would peek his head out of the blanket as he laid by the stage and we would give him away or a smile and he go back to sleep. It is still humorous to think about.

We can trust that the Holy Spirit can guide us because one of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control. We have love Joy peace patients kindness and self-control. When you are being used to the Holy Spirit you are going to have self-control.

Go to God with your prayers. Pray for others, ask, dream big. If you’re looking for a job, don’t just pray an ordinary prayer, pray for a job with good benefits and great pay. Believe for a brighter future.

Jesus told His disciples, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-11). So ask God to give you one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to guide you. You will never regret it.

The gifts of the spirit are the charismata which means that these are the grace gifts. We get them not by effort but by grace. We do not believe in the father son and holy Bible. We believe in the father the son and the holy spirit. Word of God is good and it is how we know about who God is.

The majority of the disciples of Jesus were sailors. They knew how to lead a boat in the right direction. In the same way we need to ask for God to lead our lives.  1 Corinthians 12:7 tells us, “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. (NLT). We have the Holy Spirit in our heart to direct and guide us. I encourage you to get in a good Church where you can talk to your leadership about the Holy Spirit.
