The Righteousness of Faith Speaks!

Your words are powerful. Begin to take time to evaluate the words that you speak. Paul told the church in Rom, “For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” But the righteousness of faith speaks…” (Romans 10:5-6). What does righteousness do for us? It causes us to speak.

Under the Law, we are condemned. We cannot keep the commandments. We do our best, but our best is not enough. The law is good because it brings us to the end of ourselves and causes us to be silent before God. The Scriptures tell us, ,”Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God” (Romans 3:19). Notice what the law does, it closes our mouth. It causes us to be silent. When the prophet Isaiah was before the Lord he spoke out and said, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips” (Isaiah 6:5).

The law will cause fear to be in our hearts. Grace does something amazing; it gives us hope. God has now cleansed our sins and now we can speak. What does the righteousness of faith do? It speaks! Remember God is not always looking for ability, sometimes He’s looking for availability!

When we take time to eat, it is important to thank the Lord for your meal. Did you know that you can sanctify your food? In 1 Timothy 4:3-5 it tells us, “For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; 5for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.” You can sanctify your food through pray and the word of God. The Lord is sanctifying the food when we speak.  The verse before this talked about people who abstain from certain foods. Some debated whether to eat this or not. Timothy was encouraging them to pray over their food.

Proverbs 18:21 tells us, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue”. Proverbs 18 has 24 verses and I believe that God wants us to live with 24 hours of wisdom a day. Just as we speak for salvation and receive God’s everlasting life, we can also receive breakthroughs as we speak God’s word. For this month of October, read a chapter in Proverbs everyday! My prayer is that you will speak wisdom by the end of these 31 days. Remember God sees your potential! Speak what He says. The law closes our mouth because of sin, but the righteousness of faith speaks!
