Run Your Race

Run your race keeping your eyes on Christ. Francis Frangipane once said, “People with faith were not just “believers”; they were world changers!“ Hebrews 11 has a list of men and women who used their faith to change their culture. Yet what caused them to do great things? There was something on the inside of them. They all had a spark that took place in their heart. They all had faith.

There was once a grandfather heading to the market with his grandson riding their donkey. They soon passed a group of men, one of them said: “See that lazy youngster, he lets his father walk while he rides.”

So the man ordered his boy to get off, and got on himself. But they hadn’t gone far when they passed two women, one of whom said to the other: “Shame on that lazy lout to let his poor little son trudge along.”

Well, the man didn’t know what to do, but at last he picked up his grandson and they both rode on the donkey. By this time they had come close to the town when they heard, “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself for overloading that poor donkey of yours?” The man and boy got off and ended up carrying the donkey into town.

No matter what you do, you are not going to please everyone. Seek the approval of God before you seek the approval of man. My friends, God has a plan for your life. It is time that we run our race. This life is not a sprint, but it is a marathon. You may have had a set back or a bad break, don’t let that keep you down.

Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” God wants our lives to be transformed. The world always has it ways and thinking. We can be like the grandfather and try to please everyone around us or we can simply hear the voice of God.

God wants you to run your race. Every day we are called to be a light in the darkness. We are not racing against each other but we are fighting against, “spiritual forces of wickedness” (Ephesians 6:12).

We have to point this world in the right direction. We are called to stand firm knowing who God is. God is cheering you on. He is there to support you when no one else will. We should always seek wise opinions and have humble heart, but at the end of the day don’t get so distracted with what others say, that you for get to listen to what God has to say. A world changer’s journey begins when their own world has been changed. We are called to renew our minds. It can be easy to seek behavior modification, but what we really need is heart transformation. We can only change this world one person at a time.

Run your race keeping your eyes on Christ.
