5 Things Every Single Guy/Girl Can Do During Valentine’s Day

Here are five things every single guy/girl can do during Valentine’s Day:

  1. Give

Instead of sitting on that $50 you would have spent on that fancy dinner, give to your local Church or Non-Profit. This will cause your heart to be filled with joy. I know my heart feels better after I do. Volunteer your time and put it to good use. Others will see that and be encouraged. Take time to go and give something to your Grandmother or Mother. Anne Frank once said, “No one has ever become poor by giving.”

  1. Laugh

It can be easy to get all emotional on Valentine’s day. Instead turn that emotion into a smile. Watch a Comedy show. Take a laugh at the idea of how little this day really matters. I mean it’s not like you weren’t single the day before, right? Yes, this day is marketed very well but just find the humor in it.Life is not meant to be so serious.

  1. Write a Handwritten Note

You know what you have today, time. Do something old fashioned. Take fifteen minutes and write a handwritten note to a person that has helped you. Write to your old Teacher, Youth Pastor, Camp Counselor, Uncle, Aunt, Grandparent, or leader. Tell them, “thanks” and how they impacted your life in a positive way. It can be a simple paragraph, but that can be the best gift they got all year.

  1. Change your focus

This goes along with the theme of this blog post but it is very important to know. Grace means that it is not about me. Breath in and out, and as you do be thankful you are alive.

We all want what we don’t have. King Solomon wrote something that makes me laugh every time I read it. He said, “Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.” (Proverbs 25:24). You may see all the flowers and think that everyone is in, “love” today. Guess what, you don’t know their story. Those that are happy today, may not be together by next year. Be happy for others around you.

  1. Accomplish a task

Hebrews 4:15 tells us, “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.” Jesus feels what we feel. It is okay to feel lonely, just don’t allow that feeling lead you down a dark path. When you feel sad, our High Priest (Jesus) feels that sadness too. When Saul was persecuting Christians Jesus told Him, “Saul, Sual why are you persecuting me?” (Acts 9:4). Why was Jesus saying this? Because Jesus feels what we feel.

We have no record that Jesus was married. Yet He used the time that He had to change the world. Paul was also single when He wrote the book of 1 Corinthians. Did you know what He did? He wrote the majority of the New Testament Bible. I say this to tell you that it’s ok to be single. An abundant life does not begin when you marry, it begins when you place your trust in Christ. Be the confident, centered, and happy man/woman that God created you to be. Give, donate, and love the people around you.
