Winning at Life: What Does True Success Look Like?

We all want to win at life—but what does that really mean?

There’s a powerful scripture that asks, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose his soul?” This verse challenges our definition of success. Is it just about money, status, or recognition? Or is it something deeper—something eternal?

If we want to truly succeed in life, we have to view success through the lens of our Creator. That means aligning our goals not just with worldly ambition, but with purpose, balance, and faith.

Are You Really Committing to Your Goals?

We often say we want to change—we want to be healthier, improve our relationships, save more money, grow spiritually—but are we dedicating the time to make it happen?

If you want a stronger marriage or better relationships, are you setting aside quality time for those people?

If you want to save money, are you budgeting? Picking up extra hours or selling unused items to reach that goal?

The truth is: our actions reveal our priorities. What we do each week shows what matters most to us.

Going to Church Doesn’t Mean You’re Perfect

Attending church isn’t about pretending you’ve got it all together. It’s about recognizing your need for God. Just like going to the gym doesn’t mean you’re already fit—it means you’re working toward something better.

I’ve been going to the gym more often lately, and I see familiar faces—people who show up consistently. Do I judge them if I see them eating fast food one day? No. I respect the fact that they’re putting in the work. They’re showing up. They’re trying. And that’s what matters.

The same goes for faith. People go to church to grow spiritually, build better relationships, and surround themselves with a community that pushes them to be better. That effort deserves grace—not judgment.

Resurrection Sunday: A Time to Reflect and Act

As we celebrate Resurrection Sunday, let’s remember this: Jesus is alive. And because He lives, we have the power to change, grow, and live with purpose.

So here’s my challenge to you:

Do something today that moves you closer to the life you want.

If you want to be healthy, schedule time this week to move your body. If you want to be a better parent, block out time to be present with your kids. If you want a closer relationship with God, open your Bible or spend time in prayer.

Vision, Balance, and Honesty

Ask yourself: What are my goals? What is my vision for life?

You can’t give 100% to every area all the time—but you can live with intention. Balance matters. Work is important, but so is rest. Family time matters, but so does taking care of your physical and spiritual health.

And if we’re not putting in time toward our goals, maybe it’s time to admit—we’re not really chasing them. Because actions speak louder than words.

Maya Angelo once said, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them.” The same applies to ourselves—our choices reveal who we are and what we value.

So today, choose to align your time with your vision.
