Wise Men Still Seek Jesus

The story of the wise men is a great example for the importance of seeking Jesus. Why do we seek God? Because He first sought us. I once heard someone say that they, “found God.” The reality is that God was never lost, He found us. 2,000 years ago, Christ came down and gave His life for us. Because He was born and sought for us to be saved, now we seek Him in return.

So who were the, “Magi?” The Bible never describes them as kings, although it is most likely that they were. They were highly respected men. Even the evil King Harod called forth these men to discover the location of Jesus. It is a true phrase that wise men seek Jesus. They saw the star in the east and wanted to worship God. Now we have to keep in mind that the wise men actually where not present during the time of Jesus’ birth. It was the shepherds who were there to welcome Christ. The wise men were still on there way to Jesus during this time. Although The wise men did eventually see Jesus, most scholars tell us that He was around the age of two or under.

It takes wisdom to have a heart towards God. I think it is actually amazing how these unknown people came to give to Jesus. We are never given a name or how many there were. Although God does know who they were.

What does it mean to seek God? It means that we discover more about who God is. It is to see how amazing Christ really is. Every detail in the Bible is relevant. Although we do not seek for Jesus is a physical town, we can still see Him in the Bible. As we open up the word and are transformed. Take this time to devote to God. Give Him a small portion of your day to think about how great He is. You don’t have to always be sitting down or kneeling. You can see Christ as you listen to a sermon on the road, pick a single scripture for the day, or simply read a devotion as you drink your coffee. Wherever we go or whatever we do, we do it all for the glory of God.
